The Governor Lukas Mention Papua Province Most Ready to Hold The National Sports Week
Postponement of National Sports Week (PON) XX Papua to 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic was greeted positively by Governor Lukas Enembe.
He considers that the delay will make Papua the most prepared host to roll out the four-year national event.
Because the most eastern province in Indonesia has a longer time to prepare infrastructure (venue) and operation.
"We can say, we (Papua) will be most ready to face The National Sports Week 2021".
"This means that the delay of The National Sports Week XX makes the preparation of the Papua provincial government and the Great Committee increasingly stable and perfect," he explained in the editorial accepted release Tuesday (July 14th, 2020).
Lukas explains, the delay gives Papua the opportunity to continue to prepare everything related to The National Sports Week such as venue, accommodation, transportation, consumption and others.
The preparation process also pays attention to the health protocol. Hopefully the construction of the entire The National Sports Week infrastructure can be finished in 2020. While next year, preparation will focus on organizing.
Previously, the daily chairman of the Great Committee for the National Sports Week of Papua Yunus Wonda agreed with delaying the four-year national agenda.
Thus, the preparation will be more optimal and far from the risk of corona transmission.
"We support the President's decision to show the implementation of the National Sports Week. It certainly has gone through various humanitarian considerations. But for Papua this is an advantage because the preparation time is longer." he said.
