The transmission of Covid-19 still high, Papua province inform to close the red zone area
The Provincial Government of Papua discourages closing activities in all villages that are included in the red zone of coronavirus transmission or Covid-19.
This was conveyed by the Vice Governor of Papua, Klemen Tinal on Tuesday (21/7/2020) to the press, addressing still the high number of Covid-19 transmission.
This day recorded a cumulative positive as much as 2606 cases, 133 treated, 1253 cured and 30 died.
"This is an extreme step we must take. At least this is the current alternative. The case of Covid transmission has increased significantly every day. But this will still be discussed with the district and city governments," he explained.
The Vice governor said, a 14-day closure in the red-zone village is aimed at ensuring the transmission of the virus is prevented and addressed. Thus, it is expected that there is no addition of cases or transmission in the village.
"For example in Gurahbesi, it is a case of cumulative positive already 100 people so it should be closed for 14 days. This is an example (if this closing policy is implemented). Thus there should be no activity for people to come out and come in. "
"We later make sure to fulfill the needs (groceries) to the doctor. All (elements helped and) maintain, either from the Government of the state of the province. Thus we hope that the area can be normal, "he said.
We ensure that the needs (groceries) to the doctors will be met, also all of the elements who help and guard either from the city or provincial governments. Thus we hope that the area can be normal, " he said.
He added, the key to the success of lowering the virus transmission in our decision. The government only gives encouragement but if there is no participation and discipline action of the citizens, then the entire effort will be wasted.
"That’s way, we keep reminding citizens to obey health protocols. Keep the distance, wear masks, wash hands, do not gather in the crowd. If all this is done in a disciplined manner we are sure that transmission rates can be reduced, " he said.
