Papua Legend Songs Will Enliven National Sports Week

The National Sports Week Committee XX Papua 2021 will re-appoint the old ethnic songs of Papua that had been sung by the band Mambesak, Black Sweet and Black Brothers for the opening, closing and series of matches in the four-year event.

The reason is most of the typical music of Papua has begun to disappear and no longer be sung.

"In fact, the artwork of the Papua children's band will be played in the opening and closing Ceremony of National Sports Week also in each venue" explained the daily chairman of PB PON Papua, Yunus Wonda,

In addition to presenting legend songs of Papua, The National Sports Week Committee Papua will also involve indigenous Papuan singers and artists at the opening ceremony of the National Sports Week XX Papua 2021. “For this I have asked the field of ceremony and the consultant, so that all events of National Sports Week will be performed in a Papuan theme,” Yunus said.

Not only Papua culture but also a special tourism of Papua will be implemented in National Sports Week.

"In principle we further accentuate the local culture of Papua. We want to demonstrate that Papua is Indonesia and the National Sports Week of Papua is togetherness for the nation's children.

The implementation of National Sports Week XX will be held on 2-13 October 2021. The event was held in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke regency.
