Department of Education, Library and Regional Archives hopes schools do not become a massive transmission of Covid-19
In the new normal adaptation applied, schools in 28 districts and cities (except Jayapura city) are allowed to do face-to-face learning with the students.
All of educational institutions were reminded to be able to fulfill all the prescribed health protocols. So transmission of Coronavirus or Covid-19 will not to be massive.
"We ask the school principal to pay attention to around school. The head of Education office in the whole district have to stay cautious at the opening of this school," explained the head of Education Office, library and Regional Archives (DPPAD) of Papua Christian Sohilait, in Jayapura, Thursday.
Recently, a child in Jayapura city has been confirmed positive Covid-19. So it hopes that the part of the task force can immediately do tracing related to the case.
"Only for Jayapura city is not allowed to open the school. Hence, one of the infected child needs to be found out with whom and where he interacts”
"Then we have also coordinated with the Jayapura City Education Office that sweeping must be done to find out which schools are still open or do face to face learning with students," he explained.
On that occasion, Christian hoped that all existing schools in Papua continued to coordinate with the local Education department in relation to the preparation of health protocols in advance with the students 'face-to-face plans’.
For those who lack budgets, we can apply for cooperation with all the agencies that deal with Covid, in order to set up health protocols such as spraying disinfectants, setting up masks and others.
"But if the element has not been fulfilled by health protocol, it is better if school is closed so there is no virus transmission ".
"For example in Supiori district where we have opened school during the week we recommend to close it because of lack of mask," he said.
