The Sports and Youth Department of Papua Ensures Rugby Venue Location Is Moved
After being officially moved to Trikora Abepura Field, Jayapura City, a Rugby venue that was previously one location with Cricket branch sport in Doyo Baru, Jayapura Regency, it has been moved to again.
The location chosen this time is the land owned by the Air Force adjacent to the Softball and Baseball venues. This was confirmed by the Head of Papua Sports and Youth Office, Alex Kapisa in Jayapura on Monday (August 24, 2020).
"It has been a long discussion. We had to move the Rugby venue to Sentani, Jayapura Regency because the Trikora Abepura field in Jayapura city did not have the standards," he explained.
Meanwhile, another reason for the relocation of the Rugby venue to Jayapura Regency on land owned by the Indonesian Air Force was because the land given had an area according to national and even international standards that were determined to build Rugby venues.
"We have estimated that the construction will only take five months. We are optimistic the venue will be completed before the National Sports Week implementation," said Alex.
The Daily Chairman of PRUI Papua, George Deda welcomed the venue relocation. Because the dream of the Papuan Rugby team to have its own venue is now being realized.
