DPPAD Papua : Emergency Curriculum Concept Has Been Implemented Three Months Ago
The Department of Education, Library and Regional Archives (DPPAD) of Papua Province confirmed that it had first implemented the concept of an emergency curriculum system, before it was published by Minister of Education, Nadiem Makari.
The head of DPPAD Papua Christian Sohilait mentioned the concept has been applied in Papua since three months ago.
"Indeed the emergency curriculum has not been (officially) applied in Papua. But the Ministry of Education and Culture has decided and we have already done it in Papua, but it has not been formally determined," he explained in Jayapura on Wednesday (August 26, 2020).
He explained that teachers in Papua have previously created a concept of learning materials with three main things. First, the entire material is presented intact from beginning to the end containing all concepts. Second, materials are delivered quickly and received by students well. Third, any material presented is real and acceptable under current conditions.
The material presented was also supervised directly from DPPAD Papua assisted by the relevant district and city agencies. Nevertheless, if it is followed by rules then the concept of emergency curriculum will be formalized.
"The most important thing all schools should get learning materials during this pandemic," he concluded.
Previously, Minister of Education Nadiem Makarim published an emergency curriculum for various levels of education or under special conditions.
This emergency curriculum gives opportunity for schools to choose the appropriate curriculum. This curriculum is adapted to the circumstances and also the learning needs of students.
Schools under special conditions can choose from three curriculum options while still referring to the national curriculum, using the emergency curriculum, or simplification of the curriculum independently.
