BKKBN Papua Encourages Finalists of Genre Ambassadors to Help Teens Stay Away from Early Marriage
The National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) of Papua Province provides supplies to 10 couples of finalists for The Generation Planning Ambassador (Genre) 2020. The finalists are expected to help BKKBN Papua in teaching young Papuan to stay away from early marriage, premarital sex and drugs.
"So in the future, it is expected that the resilient youth of Papua will be formed and contribute to development".
"Basically we hope that the finalists of Genre Ambassador can help to socialize BKKBN programs through their peers," explained BKKBN Representative Head of BKKBN Representative in Papua Province, Charles Brabar in Jayapura on Wednesday.
He said that the annual agenda of the Planned Generation Ambassador program is a national agenda that this time was attended by 127 participants.
Of the 127 participants, 20 or 10 pairs of young men and women who were supplied over three days were selected to represent Papua at the national level. There are 20 of 127 participants who will be selected for three days. Then only one couple will be chosen to represent Papua at the national stage. The selection stage of the Genre Ambassadors has been held for one month starting from the beginning of August 2020, starting from the registration period, interviews to written tests.
Amos F. Worisio, Chairman of the Selection Committee of Genre Ambassadors 2020 hopes that the finalists will be able to develop their ability to capture other young people to socialize and provide counseling related to the impact of early marriage, the dangers of free sex, drugs and so on.
"The existence of Genre Ambassadors is very important for us because it can socialize BKKBN programs to their peers. We are pushing them so that they can help to create a resilient young generation in the future," he concluded.
