Free Internet Quota Subsidies for Students and Teachers Welcomed by DPPAD

The Department of Education, Library and Regional Archives (DPPAD) of the Papua Province welcomes the government's policy of subsidizing internet quotas for students, teachers and lecturers IDR 9 trillion during distance learning.

Even though he said it was a little late, the Head of the Papua DPPAD, Christian Sohilait, assessed that the policy would greatly help the learning process in the land of Cenderawasih, which currently requires the availability of an internet network to support long-distance learning.

"But technically we have not received a clear rule regarding its provision for anything. Then how many people can get it in Papua divided for elementary, junior high, high school, vocational school, teachers, students and lecturers".

"But at its core we welcome the decision of the Minister of Education even though it is a little late," he said in Jayapura, Monday (August 31, 2020).

He said the needs of students, teachers and lecturers in Papua are not limited to free internet quotas because there are many areas that are not covered by the internet network.

"So they need more radio, books then distribution of teachers to do face-to-face learning by visiting students. However, we still appreciate what the government has now done to advance Papuan education," he explained.

It is known that the government through the ministry of education and culture will provide quota subsidy assistance to students up to lecturers for four months from September-December 2020.
