The Central Bureau of Statistics: Deflation of 0.20 Percent in Three Papuan CPI Cities, Last August
Based on the monitoring results of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Papua Province, as many as 3 CPI cities (Jayapura, Mimika and Merauke Districts) deflation amounted to 0.20 percent in August 2020.
In other words, there was a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.07 in July 2020 to 104.86 in August 2020.
Head of BPS Papua Adriana Robaha explained the deflation that occurred in the combined 3 CPI cities in Papua, occurred due to the decline of the index in food, beverage, and tobacco groups.
"The decline in the index also occurred in housing, water, electricity, household fuel groups. Then the group of equipment, equipment, and regular maintenance of household and health groups," explained him in Jayapura, Tuesday (1/9/2020).
While the driving factor of deflation, he added, is due to the significant price drop in some commodities, including onions, tomatoes, cakalang fish, yellowtail fish, mujair fish, and others.
However, there are also commodities that contribute to inflation, among others, air transportation rates, gold jewelry, education costs at colleges / universities, kale, mackerel, and others.
"But when calculated the amount of each commodity group against the development of inflation august 2020 in Papua (combined 3 cities CPI), among others food, beverage, and tobacco groups of -0.59 percent and clothing and footwear groups of 0.002 percent".
"Then the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups amounted to -0.04percent. The household routine equipment, tools and maintenance group is -0.003percent and the health group is -0.005percent," he said.
