The Central Government through the Ministry of Empowerment and State Apparatus Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan RB) opened the possibility to appoint honorary personnel in Papua without conducting tests.

Nevertheless, the certainty must still be decided through a meeting with all Regional Staffing Agencies (BKD) in Papua to compile and record the honorary personnel that will be appointed based on needs.

"We have a meeting with the Minister of Empowerment and State Apparatus Bureaucratic Reform and then there is the State Staffing Agency (BKN) as well and we are also given time to compile (the list) based on needs," explained head of BKD Papua Nicolaus Wenda, Friday (4/9/2020).

Despite giving a positive signal to tens of thousands of honorary personnel in Papua to be appointed, he urged all relevant parties to wait for an official decision. Then it is not easy to believe with certain people who promise the appointment as ASN or the like.

"Essentially we are at BKD Papua together with BKD Regency and City are given until November 2020 to re-record all existing honorary personnel, as needed". 

"Next week we will invite the head of BKD to make a deal in compiling valid honorary employee data according to existing needs," he said.

Hundreds of honorary personnel from Papua Province went to the governor's office demanding that they be appointed to the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the 2019/2020 formation.

Hundreds of honorees came with banners, including one that read “We are 1200 Papuan provincial honorary requested to be appointed in the 2019/2020 formation".

Honorary representative Frits Awom said he requested that the promises of previous leaders to fight for their fate to be appointed as civil servants be fulfilled immediately.
