KONI Papua Said That the Evaluation of Trainers Is Normal
The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of the Papua Province said the process of evaluating (substitution) of coaches ahead of National Sports Week (PON) XX 2021 is commonplace and should not be exaggerated by the public.
This refers to the news of the sacking of one of Wushu sports coaches which went viral on social media recently.
The evaluation process improves the achievement of athletes so that the goal of presenting medals in PON XX 2021 can be achieved. On the other hand, it is very unnatural for KONI Papua to still retain coaches with below-average performance.
"All current coaches will be evaluated. That is, it doesn't have to be a coach retained (if it doesn't contribute). Provincial Training Center KONI Papua also evaluates athletes and coaches. So if the coach cannot perform the task properly, outside the area and the athletes do not train properly then Provincial Training Center can evaluate (change) the existence of the coach. If there is to be evaluated I think that's a reasonable thing and it doesn't have to be questioned or questioned," said KONI Papua General Secretary Kenius Kogoya in Jayapura on Monday (9/28/2020).
Kenius said that he had received several reports on several sports, especially in martial arts, the coach was said to not provide the maximum variety of training for athletes. As a result, the material provided makes athletes saturated.
"The athlete always reports (to me), so I think this incident should be a warning to all coaches. But this evaluation is good of all parties with the aim of delivering achievements," he concluded.
