Keerom Labor Office Burned, Regent Ridwan Handed Over to Security Apparatus
The Labor Office (Disnaker) of Keerom Regency, Thursday (1/10/2020) burned a number of masses who were dissatisfied with the recruitment results of Civil Servant Candidate Formation 2018 in Keerom Regency.
Acting Interim Regent (interim) Keerom, Ridwan Rumasukun handed the case over to the security forces.
He immediately gathered the local Forkopimda to discuss resolving the issue.
"Now the situation in Keerom is back to normal. The information mass is back home," Rumasukun said by phone, Thursday (01/10/2020).
Assistant III Regional Secretariat Keerom, Irwan, told reporters on phone confirmed the burning of the office due to dissatisfaction with the Civil Servant Candidate results.
"The burning was because of rejection of the Civil Servant Candidate results, the Keerom District Government announced the results of the acceptance of Civil Servant Candidate Formation 2018 by online," he said.
The announcement was actually delayed by four months due to various obstacles.
Irwan, who was at the scene, said the mob was still in the vicinity of the scene, in Arso District.
"The masses are still resting, maybe we want to move on or not, we're dizzy too," he said.
From the field information, a crowd of about a hundred people performed the action around 4:45 p.m.
Officers at the scene were unable to stem the mass action due to being outnumbered.
Until now, the road to Arso is still closed to the masses.
Papua Police Chief Irjen Pol. Paul Waterpauw said the act of destruction and arson occurred around 3:30 p.m. fortunately there were no fatalities in the incident.
"It was done by the masses, especially the job seekers who did not receive the Civil Servant Candidate announcement on the website. At first they did the throwing and then ended up burning," he said.
He also confirmed that he would process the laws of the perpetrators involved in the arson incident.
"I'm concerned about incidents like that, just burn them, what they mean. We will continue the legal process to find the perpetrators," he said.
