Governor Lukas's dream is for Papua to host the Asian Games

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe has a strong desire for this eastern province in Indonesia to host the Asian Games and Olympics in the future.

The desire is not a dream that cannot be realized, because there are currently international venues built in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Merauke Regency and Mimika Regency, for the upcoming National Sports Week (PON) XX October 2021.

With these best venues, after organizing PON, Papua can host other international venues.

"Our goal is to build a venue with international standards, it is not only for the implementation of PON but it can host the Asian Games even in the Olympics 2032," explained Lukas, to the press after reviewing a number of venues in Jayapura City and Regency, PON XX 2021, Friday (2/10/2020).

With that in question, the Governor expects that all Papuans can join hands with the government to succeed PON XX.

"Let's all be united and optimistic. No more pessimists. If we were all united, PON would have been a success," he said.

The governor on that occasion ordered that Papuan athletes should not only excel in PON event but it can carve out history on international events.

"At least there must be Papuan children selected and included in the Indonesian contingent".

"Therefore, from now on we must prepare the best athletes, not those who like to get drunk. Papua must prepare accomplished athletes to carve out history on their own soil," he explained.

While related to the implementation of PON, Governor Lukas made sure Papua was very ready to host PON.

"Preparation has also been 200 percent. So the reporter wrote that the pessimistic public said PON is not so, now that we've built all the international standard venues, PON must be. We are ready to host all participants from 33 provinces in Indonesia," he concluded.
