Papua Provincial Government Holds Health and Social Recovery for Intan Jaya Refugees
The Papua Provincial Government held a health and social recovery for Intan Jaya refugees centered in Nabire and Mimika districts.
For health recovery, the Papua Provincial Government deployed teams to several refugee sites affected by the Intan Jaya conflict.
Head of Papua Health Department, Robby Kayame stated that due to the conflict in Intan Jaya Regency, people evacuated to several surrounding districts such as Nabire, Timika and Sugapa, Intan Jaya.
"People are reported to experience psychological and physical trauma and hunger (malnutrition) especially for infants and toddlers".
"Therefore, the Provincial Government of Papua sent a recovery team and medical team to the evacuation points on March 3, 2021 that will help the community to recover from the condition," explained Robby in a release received by the editor, Thursday (03/04/2021).
While the aid delivered is medicines, additional food as well as trauma recovery assistance packages.
While health recovery includes treatment, mental recovery, as well as improved community nutrition as well as nutritional feeding in infants and toddlers. In addition, vaccination training and COVID-19 vaccines were also held.
Meanwhile, similar activities have been carried out by the Social Service, Population, Women Empowerment and Child Protection of Papua.

Previously, the protracted armed conflict in Intan Jaya, made thousands of its citizens displaced and afraid to garden and chose to evacuate.
In response, the Ministry of Social Affairs finally responded to the request of the Papua Provincial Government by providing 120 tons of rice for Intan Jaya refugees.
