Head of Regional Revenue Management Agency (Bappenda) of Papua, MB Setiyo Wahyudi said the tax relaxation program launched during 2020, successfully boosted the realization of Regional Original Income in Papua.

Where the realization of Regional Original Income of Papua Province reached IDR1,255 trillion or over target, from the value set in 2020 of IDR1,060 trillion.

"People's enthusiasm is quite high in paying taxes when we open a tax relaxation program".

"Then there is also the increase of Regional Original Income in 2020 because PT Freeport Indonesia pays surface water tax. So we over targeted last year," he said in Jayapura on Monday.

According to him, the achievement cannot be separated from the efforts and innovations made by his agencies with the parties in improving Regional Original Income, even in the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"For that, I appreciate all parties involved so that we managed to reach the Regional Original Income target last year even over. And this is certainly a good achievement because it occurred during the coronavirus pandemic," he said.

Meanwhile, this year, the Regional Revenue Agency of Papua targets Regional Original Income achievement of IDR1,765 trillion. Meanwhile, until February 2021, it has been realized at IDR361 billion.

"Hopefully in the first quarter we can exceed the target. Of course it's a tough task but it's possible to do".

"The only thing that needs to be done at this time is the entire Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) of the Papua Provincial Government can also carry out the optimal work program. That way we are confident, Regional Original Income will be achieved in 2021," he concluded.
