Papua Provincial Government Sends 30 Papuan Indigenous Students to Japan
The Papua Provincial Government through the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) allocated vocational scholarships for Papuan Indigenous children to study in Japan.
A total of 30 OAP students will be flown to Fukuoka city of Japan to undergo agricultural industry development education.
This was stated by the Head of BPSDM of Papua Province, Aryoko AF Rumaropen, SP., M.Eng on the sidelines of the Socialization of Japan's Fukuoka Vocational Scholarship Program in 2021, Monday morning (3/15/2021) at Horison Hotel, Kotaraja, Jayapura.
"The Papua Provincial Government established a scholarship program with Fukuoka Japan. Granting affirmations for 30 Papuan Indigenous graduates of VOCATIONAL/HIGH SCHOOL in 2019, 2020 and prospective graduates in 2021," said Aryoko accompanied by the Head of Education Program Planning and Competitiveness Improvement affirmation of BPSDM Papua, Elius Enembe, S.Kep, M.Kes.
Aryoko explained, Japan was chosen as a vocational study country for students, because Fukuoka is one of the most advanced cities in Japan in the field of agricultural cultivation development, agricultural mechanization, agricultural industry and information technology of modern agricultural resource management.
"Papua province also has a huge natural wealth. And to manage it takes human resources with such expertise. That's why we send Papuan students to study in Fukuoka," he explained.
In addition, said the Head of BPSDM, universities in Fukuoka successfully developed vocational education in the field of natural resource management in the agricultural sector.
Aryoko said that the Provincial Government welcomes various educational programs, especially vocational education programs to improve the ability and quality of human resources in the management of Papua natural resources.
"For the management of natural resources whose potential is very large, it cannot be managed in the usual way but must be managed in a remarkable way through the development of science and technology," he said.
Aryoko stressed that in the future, the Scholarship Program of The Provincial Government of Papua is not only for undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate education programs but rather for vocational programs for an accredited level of expertise.
In the same place, Secretary of the Vocational Education Program Cooperation Team of the Government of Papua and Fukuoka Japan, Dr. Karsudi, SP, MSI said the socialization of Fukuoka Japan vocational scholarships aims to improve understanding for Papuan Indigenous students, so that they prepare themselves early to join the program.
"The socialization participants came from the Department of Education, Library and Regional Archives of Papua province and the principals of high schools and vocational schools in Papua Province, with a total of 50 participants."
"The socialization method is done classically through face-to-face for participants from Jayapura City, Jayapura District, Keerom and surrounding areas. For the participants who come from areas outside the city of Jayapura and surrounding areas socialization is done by digital method through zoom meeting that is broadcast live through YouTube channel media BPSDM Papua Province," said Karsudi.
