National Sports Week Committee Immediately Get Covid-19 Vaccination

The board of the National Sports Week Committee is confirmed to be vaccinated for COVID-19 in the coming weeks.

It follows the instruction of President Jokowi, he wants the implementation of National Sports Week free from the transmission of Coronavirus.

"I have instructed the health sector so that the National Sports Week committee will be vaccinated immediately. I think this is what we have to do to prevent (transmission) as a hope that National Sports Week is going well.

"And our target in the near future or in the coming weeks," explained the Daily Chairman of National Sports Week Committee Yunus Wonda in Jayapura, Tuesday (3/23/2021).

Yunus also instructed the health sector to coordinate with the provincial government and KONI Papua, to encourage COVID-19 vaccination for athletes and officials who will be involved in the quadrennial event.

"All athletes and officials from outside Papua must also be vaccinated. Likewise we are also in Papua, both athletes, officials, committee and the community around the venue," he asked.

Regional Secretary of Papua, Dance Yulian Flassy has also previously encouraged the implementation of vaccinations for all athletes, in the near future.

The Regional Secretary will invite the committee and KONI Papua to synergize related to the implementation of vaccinations.  

The meeting also discussed preparations for the implementation of National Sports Week which will still be held on 2 to 15 October 2021, as affirmed by President Jokowi.

"The point is, 1 or 2 months before the event, athletes already have to be vaccinated. It also includes officials and the community around the venue. Similarly, we will be selective so that the athletes and officials who will come to Papua, all must have been vaccinated," he concluded.
