Papuan and Japanese Governments in First Meeting to Discuss Vocational Scholarships
The Provincial Government of Papua and the Government of Fukuoka Japan on Tuesday (3/23/2021) held the inaugural meeting online to discuss vocational education scholarship cooperation for indigenous Papuan in 2021.
The two governments are represented by each of the Human Resources Development Agency of Papua Province and the International Cooperation Agency of the Fukuoka Government of Japan.
The Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, SIP. MH in his direction read by the Head of Human Resources Development Agency, Aryoko A.F Rumaropen, SP, M.Eng said cooperation between the two sides is expected to be on target so as to improve the quality of Human Resources of Indigenous Papuan in the field of vocational education D3 Agriculture (Food Crops, Plantations, Farms, and others).
The Governor expressed his appreciation for the willingness of the Fukuoka Government of Japan to cooperate with the Papua Provincial Government of Indonesia to improve vocational education skills for Indigenous Papuan.
"With the hope that this cooperation can run successfully and benefit both parties," he said.
The inaugural meeting is expected to result in agreements on the pattern and direction of vocational education cooperation in Fukuoka Japan.
"Furthermore, this statement will be used as material to formulate the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the Papua Provincial Government and the Fukuoka Government of Japan and as a material in formulating the Cooperation Agreement between the Papua Provincial Human Resources Development Agency and the Fukuoka Japan Government International Cooperation Agency," he hoped.
Head of Human Resources Development Agency Aryoko Rumaropen said the background of human resources development in the vocational field to improve the competence of expertise in the management of Natural Resources for the agricultural sector to accelerate development and welfare in the Land of Papua.
"The agricultural sector needs to be developed with a technology-based management system because with technology-based agricultural management it will produce high productivity that will ultimately be able to increase the high benefits that Papuans will enjoy to accelerate their welfare".
"We are very confident and believe in quality education so that the huge potential of natural resources is able to lift welfare in the Papua Province," he said.
According to Aryoko Rumaropen, Natural Resources management requires special human resources in the agricultural sector, both agricultural cultivation, agricultural mechanization and information technology in the management of the agricultural sector.
Meanwhile, Director of International Cooperation of the Fukuoka Government of Japan, Yoshida said Fukuoka is the best place in Japan in human resource development.
Fukuoka successfully developed education, especially in the field of vocational natural resource management. "Fukuoka is the best in Japan and has experience in improving human resources and natural resource management," Yoshida said.
According to him, Papua has an abundant Natural Resources and needs to be managed in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, professional human resources in this sector are needed.
"We have experience that the wrong management of natural resources will cause disaster. That's why we want the potential of Natural Resources to be managed sustainably and environmentally friendly by the best children of Papua," he said.
Yoshida asserts that the Fukuoka Government of Japan is ready to accept and educate Papuan students. "We are ready to help the Papuan Government," he said.
