Yunus Wonda : On Security Issues, Papua Is Still Safe and Under Control

Chairman of the National Sports Week Committee of Papua Yunus Wonda ensures that the security and order conditions in Papua are currently safe and under control.

Similarly, for the current situation in the four clusters of National Sports Week implementation that until now is fine.

"As the Daily Chairman of National Sports Week Committee of Papua I want to make sure to all contingents in Indonesia, that to this day Papua is safe and I think all Papuans are ready to host a good one," Yunus told the press, on the sidelines of the CDM Meeting II, Friday (3/26/2021) in Jayapura.

Yunus admits that some mountainous areas in Papua are often turbulent by groups across the Indonesian Republic of Indonesia. Nevertheless, it does not have much effect on the preparation of National Sports Week Committee implementation in four clusters.

Moreover, the Papua Provincial Government is backed up by the TNI / Police in maintaining the condition of regional security and order.

"If there is a security disturbance in some areas in Papua, I think it's a place far from the National Sports Week venue and it's common. But at this National Sports Week, we have a commitment to maintain security".

"Anyway we backed up the security apparatus. And I am sure that Papuans will succeed in National Sports Week without any distraction," he said.

Yunus added, in the next few weeks, the National Sports Week Committee will hold CDM Meeting II. On the national agenda, it is ready to convince all KONI in Indonesia that Papua as the host will not disappoint the invited guests who attend.

"I am sure that the implementation of CDM Meeting II will be successful and we are ready to explain the progress of National Sports Week that we have prepared," he concluded.

Vice Chairman of Central KONI, Suwarno, hopes that in the implementation of CDM Meeting II in Jayapura, 7 to 9 April 2021, the committee can give an idea of the progress of the preparation of the quadrennial agenda.

"Including security issues that are concerned by KONI in all provinces of Indonesia".

"Now later let the police (together with committee) said, at the time of CDM Meeting II and participated in convincing the guests, that the implementation of National Sports Week Committee in Papua will run safely," he said.
