The Government of Japan is ready to facilitate the Papuan indigenous students to study there. Currently there are 6 students from Papua who are studying in Fukuoka Japan.
This was conveyed by the Education Attaché of the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, Takahashi Yusuke when receiving the Team of Education Cooperation Team of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of Papua Province, Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the Japanese Embassy office in Jakarta.

"On behalf of the Government of Japan, we welcome and appreciate the Papua Provincial Government awarding scholarships to Papuan indigenous children to conduct vocational studies in Fukuoka Japan. We are ready to assist the Papua Provincial Government. We will meet the number and quality of Japanese language teachers to help this program," he said.
According to Takahashi, the Provincial Government of Papua is very appropriate to choose Fukuoka as the city of vocational studies of Papuan indigenous students. Fukuoka is one of the most advanced cities in Japan and the universities are among the best in the world.
The number of Indonesian students studying in Japan is quite large. "The number is the 7th largest of the students in the world who study in Japan. Therefore, we expect more students from Indonesia including Papua to study in Japan," he hoped.

"Japan Foundation helps to prepare Japanese language learning materials for Japanese agricultural vocational scholarship participants. Including Japanese language training for teachers who will educate scholarship participants," he explained.
Hiruta said the Japan Foundation focuses on language education, Japanese-Indonesian cultural and intellectual exchange. Activities carried out by the Japan Foundation include language competitions for students, capacity building of teachers, and certification of Japanese language skills.
