Marine Affairs and Fisheries Department disciplines Traders in the PPI Area

The Papua Provincial Government took decisive steps to discipline traders in the Hamadi Fish Landing Base (PPI) area of Jayapura City on Monday morning.

The regulation by the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Department and Public Order Enforcers of Papua, targeting traders who sell in PPI Hamadi.

By the monitoring of journalists, demolition went smoothly, most traders were independently dismantled their stalls assisted by members of Public Order Enforcers of Papua.

To the press Secretary of the Papua Marine and Fisheries Department, Carlos Matuan stated, the regulation is based on the instructions of the regional head.

The Papua Provincial Government wishes to restore the PPI function to the proper.

 "Because it should be PPI occupied by fish traders. But at the moment it is precisely occupied by vegetable traders and others," said Carlos. 

Carlos said that the rule was done persuasively. Where previously has been conducting socialization to traders, since three months ago. 

"The point is that there is no element of coercion in this order. They are dismantling and we just come to witness the process of ordering and even helping them," he concluded.

One of the traders, Hamzah admitted that he was resigned to being disciplined by PPI Hamadi. 

 Nevertheless, he hopes the government can prepare a replacement place for them.
