Governor's Spokesman: Removal of Three Echelon II Officials, Warning for Regional Apparatus Organization

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe removed three Echelon II officials who were considered low-performing.

The three officials, namely Head of Education Department, Christian Sohilait, Head of Procurement Bureau of Goods and Services, Yorem Wanimbo and Director of Jayapura Hospital, Aloysius Giay.

Spokesman for Papua Governor Muhammad Rifai Darus called the removal of the position as a warning for the head of Regional Apparatus Organization who did not maximally carry out his duties.

Moreover, Governor Lukas to the point of expressing deep disappointment through crying, responding to the weakness of public services in the three institutions that received the rotation of the position.

"This change (official) is a warning for others, because since returning from treatment in Singapore, he has followed the performance of all Regional Apparatus Organization Heads. In fact, he asked all the special staff and the experts who were there."

"And this is the evaluation of the first wave, so there will be another wave so that all officials improve. This means that the head of the Regional Apparatus Organization whose report will be totally validated," said Rifai, Friday (08/20/2021).

For Jayapura Hospital, Governor Lukas highlighted the weak hospital service to patients when several times conducted surprise inspections. This health institution seems more concerned with infrastructure projects, even though medical services are not maximal.

As for the education office, the Governor wants old officials to concentrate on resolving cases of alleged corruption in the agency.

With the change in the bureau of procurement of goods and services, with regard to the alleged corruption labeled by the community against the institution , the regional head wants there to be improvements in the procurement process of goods and services of the provincial government.

"The point is that the Governor wants officials in this province not to think about fees or rewards that will be received related to projects in his agency. He is focused on working because every official already has a salary so don't think about additional costs anymore."

"But stay focused on the people, build society. Therefore, in the remaining two years of the government of Governor Lukas will be very firm so these officials are not caught up in the problem of corruption," he concluded.

Meanwhile, three Echelon II Officials who were appointed in Friday afternoon replaced the old official removed by the governor, Namely Debora Salossa as Head of the Papua Regional Procurement Bureau, Anton Mote as Director of Jayapura Hospital and Protasius Lobya as Acting Head of The Papua Regional Education, Library and Archives Office.
