Minister Of Home Affairs: The Regional Heads That Hamper The Disbursement Of Local Leaders Election Fund Threatened Sanctions

Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian gave a loud warning to the regional head who participated in the simultaneous regional elections in 2020 in Papua.

He threatened to give strict sanctions to the district leadership that prevented the disbursement of regional elections.

Sanctions are a temporary termination as stipulated in LAW No. 23 of 2014 concerning local governments.

"If there is a barrier there (in disbursement of regional elections from the head of the region to the General Election Commissions) I do not hesitate to give sanctions according to LAW 23 years 2014 about the local government".

So if it does not run the head of the area then the Minister of Commerce in the name of the president can give sanctions, "said Minister of Home Affairs, Tito, addressing the disbursement of electoral funds that seemed sluggish from the regional head to the General Election Commissions, in the press release, Friday (10/7/2020) in Jayapura.

Tito  also asked the General Election Commissions of Papua province to drop into the district supervision and if it is necessary to take over the electoral phase, if there are obstacles.

In addition, The Minister of Home Affairs also asked the provincial leadership with Regional Leaders Communication Forum to mediate while pushing the regional head to immediately complete the disbursement of the electoral funds, so that the stage of the elections immediately rolled as it should.

"But later on I also through the Directorate General of Regional Autonomy (OTDA) The Minister of Home Affairs will communicate with the regional head to quickly melt the budget. The important General Election Commissions can be immediately the way of phasing, "he said.

While for areas that have a difficult fiscal space such as Yahukimo Regency, The Minister of Home Affairs suggests that it be handed over gradually. 

"For the issue of disbursement of elections for Yahukimo Regency, their fiscal space is difficult. So that the disbursement of budget-phasing matching and research cannot be disbursed ".
