The Commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day in Papua Is Celebrated Simply

Although in the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Papua Provincial Government with instructions from the Central Government continued to hold a flag ceremony to commemorate 75 years of Indonesian independence in 2020.

The entire procession will be held only by considering the established health protocol.

On duty, the Regional Secretary of Papua, Muhammad Musa'ad said that the 75th anniversary of Indonesia's independence this year will be held in an unusual manner, there are a number of activities that are abolished, such as Taptu or Torch Parades.

In addition, the flag ceremony, which is usually held at the Mandala Stadium in Jayapura, is now diverted to the Governor's Office in Jayapura, with a limited number of participants.

"But this time there are additional events in which all FORKOPIMDA and principal and senior leaders in Papua province, must attend the ceremony of proclamation at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, virtually".

“This activity will be held in the Main Hall of the Governor Office, "Musa'ad said, after chairing a preparatory meeting for the 75th Indonesian Independence Day celebration, at the Sasana Karya of the Governor Office, Wednesday (July 15th, 2020).

The competition of Indonesian Independence Day celebration will be held to socialize to the community how to live healthy to reduce the transmission of coronavirus. But it will still be decided in the meetings with the entire Committee," he said.

The organizing committee for 75th Indonesian Independence Day will be rolling out a soft launching of flag ceremony at the Governor Office on August 1th  for trial of the upcoming ceremony on 17 August 2020.
