Ahead of the Indonesian Independence Day, Papua Provincial Government Handed Out Social Aid for Army Widow and Medical Personnel

The Papua provincial government is giving social aid to the army widow and the family of heroes and medical personnel who conduct the handling of Covid-19 in Papua.

The social aids were handed over to the governor's office in Jayapura, in commemoration of 75 Anniversary of Indonesia Independent Day in Papua, Friday (August 14, 2020).

"The submission of this social assistance is a form of appreciation for those who accept. Essentially social aid as a rope of love to the hero family, army widow also medical personnel," explained the Chairman of the Committee of the 75 Anniversary of  Indonesia Independent Day in Papua Province, Muhammad Musa'ad, when is giving the social assistance.

He said that the delivery of aid to the families of heroes and army widows was considered important to do, because it was a form of appreciation for the services of their predecessors who pushed for Indonesia's independence.

Similarly, the medical personnel are also seen as heroes for sacrificing time, effort and attention to handle and tackle the Covid-19.

"If there were many who struggled for independence by physically defending the country.”

"Unlike today, many of them are also struggling to provide a good and decent life for the community, that is one of the roles of medical personnel currently fighting in Covid-19 pandemic”, he said.

Head of social service, population and civil registry department of Papua Province, Rebekah Haluk said the submission of the social assistance is a routine agenda in order to commemorate the anniversary of Indonesia Independence Day.

Nevertheless, the surrender of social assistance is a tribute to the family of army and army widows because it has struggled to fill independence.

"Similarly to medical personnel, this is to appreciate those who are already struggling for the nation and country. Because they struggle selflessly by risking a life to tackle Covid-19," he said.

In addition to the social assistance handover agenda, the Papua Provincial Government is also holding a blood donation for social activity with a target of 120 bags which will be submitted to Indonesian Red Cross for people in need.

The flag ceremony will be held at the Governor's Office yard, attended by limited invitations as the peak of Indonesian Independence Day Anniversary.
