"This traditional rowing competition is a form of participation in the 75th anniversary of the Indonesia Independence Day".
"Although the anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is over, the main thing is that we want to preserve the local wisdom of Papua that our ancestors inherited as a tradition to be commemorated every year," he said.
It is said, from experience in a number of traditional rowing competitions, the fishermen groups and the youth are very enthusiastic. Therefore, the traditional rowing competition is expected to be able to stare at the culture of Papuans.
"Indeed, nowadays there are many modern transportations. But through this competition it is hoped that the Papuan people will not forget about their culture. But this local wisdom can continue to be preserved in modern times today," he concluded.
