Hamadi Rowing Team Won Traditional Rowing Competition of Anniversary Indonesia Independence Day
Hamadi Rowing team, South Jayapura District, Jayapura City, became the general champion in the Traditional Rowing Competition in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The competition was held by the Indonesian Cultural Arts Committee (KSBN) of Papua Province, at Dok II Beach, Jayapura. From two numbers contested, the Hamadi Pasar Village Rowing Team came out as the best when it came down in mixed double numbers.
Following Kampung Baru Rowing team, Mandala and Dok IX, in the second, third winner and first appreciation award, respectively.
While in the double mix, the first place was taken by Hamadi Pasar A Rowing team, followed by Pasar Inpres, Hamadi Borero and Kampung Baru in the second, third winner and appreciation award.
The Secretary of Indonesian Cultural Arts Committee Papua, Richard Waromi appreciated the high public interest in participating in traditional rowing races. Moreover, in the race for the Indonesian Cultural Arts Committee Papua Cup, 106 participants were attended from all villages in Jayapura City.
"We are very proud that there is still a lot of interest in Papuans towards traditional sports. Therefore, we are committed, we will create more similar traditional sports that are also in order to promote the implementation of National Sports Week in Papua 2021," he explained.
