Releasing PAC Volunteers, Deputy Governor Target 10 Kelurahan Jayapura City Entering the Green Zone

Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal expects the presence of No-Corona Youth (PAC) in each village in Jayapura City can decrease the Covid-19 transmission rate.

He also targeted 10 of the 25 villages in Jayapura that are now in the red zone, turning green in two incubation times or in the next 28 days.

That was conveyed by Deputy Governor Tinal, after releasing thousands of PAC volunteers, in the field of Trisila Jayapura, Monday (August 31, 2020).

"This PAC volunteer will socialize Covid-19 prevention in each of its villages. We hope they will start socializing from their families and then their neighbors. Hopefully from 25 villages in Jayapura City, with this PAC, 10 (villages) have already been green zone," he explained.

He said that the rate of Covid-19 transmission in Jayapura city is quite high. However, this is also accompanied by a very high level of recovery.

Therefore, the existence of PAC volunteers is encouraged to be able to assist Covid-19 Prevention and Handling Task Force in Papua. "Youth are usually more aggressive and more interactive in communicating with the community in their respective villages. The main key remains in society, not in the government, paramedics or others. Because if the public is aware and doing health protocols well, we believe the transmission rate can go down," he said.

On that occasion, Klemen said the existence of PAC volunteers was only focused in Jayapura City because Jayapura city is the area with the highest transmission in Papua. He hoped other areas of Papua would not be caught off guard but it also does the same to prevent Covid-19 transmission.
