Papua Central Bureau of Statistics: The volume of goods loaded via sea transportation has decreased by 37.97 percent

The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Papua Province recorded the volume of goods loaded through domestic water transportation in July 2020, amounting to 12,049 tons or decreased by 37.97 percent compared to the previous month, 19,423 tons.

For Jayapura Port, according to Head of Papua Central Bureau of Statistics Adriana Robaha, the load volume of goods is 10,049 tons.

While at Merauke Port, the load volume of goods was recorded at 2,000 tons.

"The volume of goods has loaded since January-July 2020 amounted to 118,796 tons or increased by 66.89 percent when compared to January-July 2019 of 71,184 tons".

"This was influenced by an increase in the volume of goods loaded at Jayapura Port by 40.5 percent and at Merauke Port by 168.62 percent," explained Adriana.

As for the volume of goods unloaded in July 2020, he continued, amounting to 94,369 tons or an increase of 10.48 percent compared to the previous month, 85,414 tons.

Specifically in Jayapura Port, the volume of unloading goods in July 2020 was recorded at 75,661 tons. While at Merauke Port, the volume of unloading goods was recorded at 18,708 tons.

"Meanwhile, the volume of unloading goods at Jayapura Port and Merauke Port in January-July 2020 amounted to 746,095 tons or decreased by 3.78 percent compared to January-July 2019 which was 775,407 tons," he said.

Switching to the number of passengers departing using domestic sea transportation, he added, by July 2020 was recorded as 7,758 people or an increase of 139.96 percent compared to June 2020 of 3,233 people. 

Meanwhile, the number of passengers arriving by using domestic sea transportation in July 2020 was recorded as 3,797 people or an increase of 206.21 percent when compared to June 2020 which was 1,240 people.
