253 Papuan Students Take Undergraduate Education by Ministry of Religious Affairs Scholarship
The scholarship was submitted by Minister of Religious Affairs Fachrul Razi, in Jayapura, Thursday (September 3, 2020).
"Scholarships for 253 Papuan children are still the first stage to be schooled in six major cities in Indonesia. But if the indigenous Papuan children want to continue their education at a higher level, then the Ministry of Religious Affairs is ready to provide scholarships abroad," explained the Minister, in between submissions.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs previously provided IDR65 billion in assistance to the Papua Province, among others to be used to finance scholarship programs, the construction of houses of worship and school improvement.
Chairman of the Forum of Religious Harmony (FKUB) Papua Lipiyus Biniluk appreciated the attention of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to Papua.
Through that attention, he hopes that in the future the harmony of religious people in Papua can be maintained in order to ward off the influx of radical understanding that has the potential to divide the integrity of the nation.
The head of the Regional Office (Kakanwil) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Papua Province Rev. Proverbs Yowei stated that he is ready to distribute the entire budget of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, in order to support the religious field in Papua.
"Because our hope is the realization of religious tolerance in Papua," he concluded.
