Three of Athletes Papuan PON Softball Rewarded Scholarship from Uncen Jayapura
Cenderawasih University (Uncen) Jayapura awarded educational scholarships to three Papuan Softball athletes, who are currently preparing for National Sports Week (PON) XX 2021.
The three athletes who also studied at Uncen Jayapura, namely Dian Sari Marthin Faculty of Social and Political Science, Yemima Asaribab Faculty of Social and Political Science and Adelaide Tania Waromi Faculty of Business Economics.
Vice Rector IV of Uncen Jayapura Cooperation Dr. Freddy Sokoy, S.Sos. M.Sos said, the awarding of the scholarship is a form of appreciation from the university to students who present in sports.
"Moreover, the Papuan Softball athletes were pre National Sports Week and the championship in Yogyakarta then came out as first place," explained Sokoy, to the press in Jayapura.
He hopes that through the scholarship program, he can motivate more talented young athletes emerging from Uncen to scent Papua's name in national and international sports.
Meanwhile, Adelaide Tania Waromi said she was delighted and proud to receive a scholarship from Uncen Jayapura. It would be more motivated to demonstrate the achievements in the future, more specifically at the four-yearly National Sports Week event which will be held next October 2021.
"We are pleased with the awarding of this scholarship and certainly encourage me to pursue Softball sports and give the best achievement to scent the name of Papua in National Sports Week next year," he said.
