DPPAD: Distance Learning in Areas Without Internet Use Radio and Books

The Regional Education, Library and Archives Office (DPPAD) of Papua Province will work with local radio to support distance learning systems, in districts and villages that do not have internet access.

This was conveyed by the Head of Special Education of the Papuan Education Office, Laurens Wantik in Jayapura, Tuesday (8/9/2020).

He said DPPAD Papua is also encouraging the distribution of thousands of radio devices and textbooks for students who live in No Internet Access areas.

The collaboration on sending radio devices and books is also temporarily conducted with World Vision Indonesia (WVI).

Nevertheless, it encourages others in Papua to participate in helping the government, meeting the needs of students all over the land of Cenderawasih for the needs of radio devices and books for distance learning.

"In order to be in the time of the Covid pandemic, all students in Papua, they can still enjoy the same learning materials as in urban areas," he said.

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, previously encouraged the construction of Palapa Ring facilities to cover districts or sub-districts.

This is so that students in the interior can enjoy free internet quota through the distance learning system that is currently encouraged by the government, due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

"Currently, Telkomsel internet using Palapa Ring new covers the district capital area".

"For that, we want to encourage this Palapa Ring to enter the districts. So that our children, who previously did not have an internet network, can immediately enjoy the facilities (internet through the system) of distance learning," he concluded.
