Keerom-Blitar Officially Establish Cooperation
The governments of Keerom and Blitar districts have officially established cooperation in the economic sector. Where Keerom will send dried corn for poultry feed routinely.
It is as agreed by the Regent of Keerom, Dr. Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, SE, MM, who conducted the handover of dried corn directly at the Blitar Regent's Office, to the Regent of Blitar, Drs. Budi Santosa, Wednesday (2/12/2020).
Where 15.5 tons of dried corn produced by farmers in Kampung Arso Pura, Skanto District, Keerom Regency, Papua, has been officially handed over to livestock food producers in Blitar.
"There are about 5,000 poultry farmers, especially egg chickens. These farmers need corn as animal feed as much as 1,200 to 1,500 tons per day to produce 1,000 tons of eggs. Hopefully Keerom corn can meet the feed needs of farmers," said Regent of Blitar, Drs. Budi Santosa
He also hopes this cooperation can continue to run well and most importantly give a positive impact to the interests of the community to overcome the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in Blitar and Keerom.
The delivery of dried corn from Keerom to Blitar Regency was continued with the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Inter-Regional Trade related to the Procurement of Dry Corn between the Blitar Regency Government and Keerom Regency and Putera Blitar Co-op with Cahaya Tani Keerom Co-op.
Meanwhile, the Regent Ridwan Rumasukun said the amount of dry corn production, which was originally a national economic recovery program during the Covid-19 pandemic, will continue to grow because the amount of land to be planted with corn is still not entirely running.
"1000 hectares of corn will be planted using the regional budget. This is a brilliant idea that must be done mechanization from planting to harvesting," he said.
Not until the corn is dry, Ridwan hopes that other commodities grown by farmers in Keerom, is expected to also penetrate outside markets so that the economy in Papua is not only dependent on the mining sector.
"I hope we can make a breakthrough in Keerom. We also have other commodities that can be developed," he said.
