Waiting Time at Jayapura Port Spends Two Days
The waiting time for ship and freight services (loading and unloading of containers) or dwelling time at the Jayapura Sea Port has now been accelerated to only two days, from the previous one for one week.
The improvement of this service, according to general manager of PT Pelindo IV Jayapura Branch, Sonny Uktolseya, followed up on President Joko Widodo's instruction that the waiting time for ship and freight services will be in two days.
"The dwelling time of Jayapura Sea Port is now on target nationally as instructed by President Joko Widodo to speed up the waiting time".
"I think this is the maximum, because the storage warehouse in Jayapura City is not enough. The shop owner also cannot afford if all the goods go straight out," Sonny explained to the press, Friday (1/29/2021), in Jayapura.
He also conveyed the good news that the Jayapura Sea Port container terminal starting February 1, 2020 has become a modern container terminal.
It applies free for a five-day build-up period, but will be charged if it exceeds.
"That's why we rent land in the Hamadi area owned by Lantamal X Jayapura as a place of container stacking and loading and unloading activities. This makes it two days," he said.
Previously, the loading and unloading process of containers at Jayapura Sea Port was said to take a long time because of the insufficient area of container land.
In addition, the owner of the goods is also considered "lazy" to take in the Port, so that a lot of goods are stacked.
