The Papuan People's Representative Council highlights a number of Local Government Assets that have not been managed maximally

The Papuan People's Representative Council (DPRP) highlights the provincial government's dependence on the fiscal of the central government.

From the data of the relevant agencies, the contribution of Regional Original Revenue (PAD) from the total provincial budget is only 12 percent. This means that 88 percent of the budget managed by the Papua Provincial Government is transfer funds from the central government.

"For this we feel the need to encourage Regional Original Revenue Papua to be improved. One of them is by managing existing regional assets to be used as a source of income".

"Examples, the hotel assets owned by the local government that have not been managed properly. Then the land assets are in a number of places even in Jakarta. This asset unfortunately has not been managed optimally," Chairman of Commission III for Budget of the Papuan Parliament, Benyamin Arisoy told the press, after a meeting with partners that was also attended by the Regional Secretary of Papua, Dance Flassy, Thursday (18/03), in Jayapura.

The former Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Papua appreciated the Jayapura District Government for seeing opportunities for cooperation with investors, then renting out its land to build malls.

This opportunity must be thought of by the assistant governors (head of Regional Apparatus Organization). So that in the future, there is active income for the provincial government from those existing assets.

"I don't think it's difficult because in the current provincial government there are a lot of great people who can manage our assets".

"Like abandoned land, if it is managed by the government with better management patterns, I think it can be income," he said.

Benyamin also reminded the Papua Provincial Government to immediately re-identify land assets in the Youtefa Market area. Because according to his observations, there are many buildings standing on land owned by the Papua Provincial Government.

"Now this is what we also ask for the Regional Secretary, so that it is encouraged the identification of existing local government assets. It can be done well by management then people who live on land owned by the provincial government can be charged ordinary rent," he said.

Papuan Regional Secretary, Dance Yulian Flassy on that occasion welcomed the proposal. It immediately closes with the relevant agencies, to identify existing assets to be managed in order to get Regional Original Revenue.
