Build Vertical Hospital in Papua, Minister of Health, Budi: It will be May Be a Reference State of Melanesia

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin made sure to immediately encourage the construction of Vertical Hospitals in Papua, so that health services in Indonesia's eastern province are getting better.

"If Jayapura hospital used to be a referral hospital for all Papua New Guineans, we hope that the Vertical Hospital that we will build in Papua can be a reference for all countries in the Melanesian region," said Minister of Health Budi during his visit to Jayapura, Wednesday (14/04/2021).

Although it is not known the amount of budget prepared yet, the land of 30 thousand hectares in Koya, Jayapura City, has been prepared by the government to build the vertical hospital.

The policy of building Vertical Hospitals in Papua, not to rival existing regional public hospitals. But he as Minister of Health, has full authority to send expert doctors in the vertical hospital, to further become a mentor for health workers in Papua.

"Because if the status is as the regional hospital, then I put expert doctors from Jakarta, so they will return".

"It is different, if there is a Vertical Hospital in Papua, I can put the best director and expert doctor so they must practice to be an expert doctor. It's not enough to learn in class," he said.

The minister hopes that the vertical hospital development program can be completed in the next five years. So that vertical hospital can be encouraged to become the "Singapore" of Melanesia in terms of health services.

In the same place, Regional Secretary of Papua, Dance Yulian Flassy fully supports the central government program.

He hopes that the plan to lay the first stone of vertical hospital construction can begin as soon as 2022.

"Because we really hope that the National Central General Hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, can also be located in Papua," he concluded.
