Local Government Urged to Be Ready for 94W Tropical Cyclone
District and Municipal Governments in Papua are urged to be prepared for the potential emergence of 94W Tropical Cyclone within the next week, as the letter from National Disaster Management Agency relates to early warning following up on weather forecasts of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
This was conveyed by the Head of National Disaster Management Agency of Papua Province Welliam R. Manderi, Wednesday (04/14/2021), in Jayapura.
With the preparedness of the districts and cities, Manderi hopes to minimize the impact of the 94W Tropical Cyclone that has previously hit NTT.
"Therefore, we continue to encourage districts and cities to increase vigilance. That way, fatalities and materials can be minimized and even avoided," he said.
Manderi generally urged the citizens of Papua in the northern region, to be more aware of the arrival of tropical cyclone 94W.
The northern areas include Biak, Sarmi, and Jayapura City and District, or areas located on the coast.
"The northern region of Papua has the potential to be hit by the storm. So it must increase vigilance in the face of it".
"Therefore, we through a letter from the Regional Secretary of Papua will immediately convey a cautious appeal to the districts and cities and the entire community," he said.
Previously, the National Disaster Management Agency asked the provincial government to be aware of the potential seeds of Tropical Cyclone 94W.
The National Disaster Management Agency responds to information submitted by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency related to Tropical Cyclone 94W and recommends several measures of preparedness for early warning from Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency to local governments at the provincial level, through letter number B-27/BNPB/D II/PK.03.02/04/2021 dated April 13, 2021.
The letter is addressed to all 30 Governors throughout Indonesia who are potentially affected by the storm.
