The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Papua Holds Free Vaccination for MSMEs and Communities

The Papuan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held a free vaccination for micro and small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as the general public, Friday (7/23/2021).

The two-day free vaccination was held at the Secretariat Yard of Kadin Papua Building, Pasifik Permai Ruko Dok II, Jayapura.

The Chairman of Papuan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ronal Antonio Bonai said the activity was aimed at helping the government in efforts to create herd immunity, as well as for economic recovery.

"So that in the future it is expected that an immunity group will be formed to fight COVID-19, and we can live normally as before," he explained.

Deputy General for MSMEs cooperatives and creative industries of Kadin Papua, Vera Parinussa said the free vaccination is the inaugural activity of the new Chamber of Commerce and Industry management, targeting MSMEs in Jayapura City.

This two-day vaccination activity targets 800 people to get the first injection.

"Because it is an obligation from Kadin as a place of shelter for businesses and it is our duty to protect MSMEs and creative industry members in Papua through this vaccination," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (Kabid P2P) of the Papua Provincial Health Department, dr. Aaron Rumainum, as the vaccinator, appreciated the initiative of the Papuan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Where it shows the seriousness of Kadin institutions to support the national economic recovery

"For that, I would like to thank the Kadin Papua for this concern. Even if it's too late (to vaccinate), it's better to be late than not at all," he said.

He added, currently in Jayapura city only about 20 to 25 percent of the community has reached herd immunity. It expects the participation of all parties to push to the maximum extent.
