Not All Regions Make IDI as a Parameter of Government Activities

Assistant for the Economy and Welfare of the People, Regional Secretary of Papua Muhammad Musa'ad thinks that the Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) has not been utilized, in preparing political development planning.

In fact, IDI is a measure of the development of democracy in Indonesia, so it can be used to draw up a Regional Budget (APBD), a Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) and a Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD).

In this regard, Musa'ad hopes that local governments throughout Papua can take advantage of the data published by the IDI Papua Working Group (Pokja).

"IDI can be used as a measuring instrument for the development of democracy in Indonesia. It is designed to be sensitive to the fluctuation of democratic conditions".

"And fluctuations in IDI figures reflect the situation of democratic dynamics in Indonesia," said Musa'ad in Jayapura, Thursday (12/8/2021).

Nevertheless, Musa'ad reminded POKJA IDI Papua to always be active in the activities of drafting, managing and utilizing data, in order to produce data on the development of democratic life in Papua Province.

By promoting civil liberties, the political rights of the people and democratic institutions as well as political institutes in the region.

"Therefore, it will need to be conducted continuous evaluation in various aspects, variables and indicators that greatly affect the freedom of democracy, especially in the territory of the Papua Province".

"Because IDI is a composite indicator that indicates the level of democratic development in Indonesia, the level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely civil liberties, political rights and democratic institutions," he concluded.
