Districts and Cities Asked to Increase Surveillance for Self-Isolation Residents
Chairman of the Papua Province COVID-19 Prevention and Handling Task Force Welliam R. Manderi called on the district and city governments to increase supervision for residents in self-isolation.
This is because most people who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 prefer to self-isolate in their own homes.
"Because the purpose of this surveillance can certainly help self-isolation citizens and certainly to reduce the risk of patients dying from COVID-19," explained Welliam in Jayapura, Friday.
It is said that in the near future it will encourage the issuance of post establishment letters throughout Papua, to supervise the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions on level 2 and 3, one of them is related to surveillance for self-isolation citizens.
The letter will be directly signed by the Governor of Papua and immediately sent to districts and cities for follow-up.
While related to surveillance for self-isolation residents, Welliam emphasized that there is extra surveillance. The Papua Provincial Government through the local Health Department has taken steps by sharing the contact numbers of doctors or medical personnel who can be contacted.
"This means that here we provide assurances for self-isolation residents not to worry because they are not medically monitored, they can contact the doctors to consult about the symptoms they experience or the drugs consumed," he said.
